Chevron Restarts Production at Joint Saudi-Kuwait Oil Field

Chevron has restarted production at an onshore field jointly owned by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait after a five-year shutdown, people familiar with the matter tell the Wall Street Journal. US oil company Chevron, which confirmed the resumption at the Wafra field, was forced to shut the field in 2015 amid a dispute over land rights between the two Gulf countries. The reopening will be small at 10,000 barrels a day, the people say. But it comes at a complicated time for Saudi Arabia, as it tries to convinces to convince other producers to abide by agreed production curbs in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
